Honestly , I don't know if I've ever seen a vintage doll in this kind of condition.

Literally spotless, the peaches and cream-complected cutie has giant sparkly blue sleep eyes, emphasized by the meticulously drawn lashes underneath. Her scarlet cupid's bow mouth is completely intact. Her butterscotch bubble cut has been perfectly preserved under a crocheted bonnet She still has BOTH SHOES AND BOTH SOCKS. WHAT??

The doll came to me in the bottom half of a Paul- Mar box . After coming up completely dry with that research, I found the numbers K- 16-5 on her back, and things fell into place a little better.

I'm pretty sure she is a Kaysam doll from

the early 60s. She might be the Big Sister doll in the Big Sister/ Little Sister set. The shoes, hair, eyes, lashes and mouth are all hits.

What is definitely not original is her outfit. No commercial manufacturer sold dolls with clothing like this.

Her incredible ensemble must have been made at home, and it is a stunner. Completely hand crocheted in tones of pastel pink, white and pale blue, the beribboned dress , tie bonnet and matching undies have just the right amount of fit and flounce to suit both the doll and the era perfectly. The dress has working buttons down the back , cap sleeves, drop waist and a ribbon belt that laces through the bodice. The bonnet frames the face with perfect ice blue bows and also ties under the chin. I seriously think the flippy skirt and modified sailor collar might be trimmed with real angora. And whatever mom or grandma did this insanely accomplished work actually bothered to add an ice-blue, embellished border TO THE SOCKS.

The heart of the true collector will be stirred by this creamy-skinned, fluffy-haired, perfectly made up, beautifully dressed vintage collectible doll. I will send her in the box she arrived in, if you prefer, as it feels like it's part of her story.
