This is a small family document group from Iași, Romania, spanning the wartime and immediate postwar years.
The first document is an official Romanian death certificate (duplicate, notarized in 1973) issued for Tobias Marcu, born 10 February 1880 in Iași and recorded as deceased on 30 June 1941 in Podu Iloaiei, Iași County. The date and location are historically significant. Podu Iloaiei was one of the destinations of the so-called “death trains” following the Iași pogrom of June 1941. While the certificate itself does not state a cause of death, the death was recorded on 30 June 1941 in Podu Iloaiei, placing it directly within the time and geographic context of the Iași pogrom. The document bears official seals, notarial legalization from 1973, and a fiscal revenue stamp.
The second document is a Romanian work book (Carte de Lucrător) issued in 1947 in Iași for Rebeca Tobias. It includes her original portrait photograph and official labor office stamps and signatures. The document reflects postwar civil registration and professional documentation in Iași.
Both documents originate from Iași County and appear to relate to the same Jewish family from the region. Together they form a historically meaningful Romanian Jewish family archive connected to Iași in 1941 and the immediate aftermath of the pogrom period.
The documents show normal age wear, folds, and handling marks consistent with their age. All visible seals and stamps are original. Please examine the photographs carefully for condition details.
