BROCKAGE

When a wayward coin starts acting as a die, it can create an error with a mirror image of its design.
After a coin is struck by its dies at the mint, it is supposed to be ejected so that it doesn't interfere as the dies strike the next planchets. If this doesn't happen, a BROCKAGE error can occur.
When a wayward coin comes between the die and a subsequent planchet, the coin that was supposed to have been ejected can instead transfer an inverse (mirror) version of its die to the planchet.

Take a look at this Roman Silver coin of Domitian. The obverse side of the coin is SHARP with all lettering correct orientation. On the other side (reverse), the strike of the design is noticeably fainter, the letters are inverted and Emperor Domitian’s head is facing left.

Domitian, often remembered as a controversial figure in Roman history, lived a complex life marked by both admirable achievements and a dark reputation. Born in AD 51 into the esteemed Flavian family, his father Vespasian's rise to power marked the conclusion of the tumultuous Year of the Four Emperors in AD 69. Despite his auspicious lineage, Domitian spent much of his early life in the shadow of his elder brother Titus. This overshadowing may have contributed to the development of his reserved and resentful personality. However, when Titus passed away in AD 81 after a brief two-year rule, Domitian swiftly stepped into the role of emperor, marking the beginning of his own rule within the Flavian dynasty.

This exquisite silver coin comes from Ancient Rome, dating back to 81 AD. Certified by NGC Ancients, this coin is a true treasure for any collector of ancient coins. The detailed design and craftsmanship reflect the era in which it was made. This piece of history would make a valuable addition to any collection.
