This outstandingly well-reproduced abstract painting depicts a street scene in Spain.
Marcel Mouly, born in Paris on 6th February 1918, was a French painter and printmaker known for his light hues and subjects, allowing viewers to enjoy the aesthetic pleasures of life.
His work features organic, feminine shapes, scenes of harbors, and romantic still life compositions with elegant brushstrokes and subtle blending. Influenced by Matisse's fauvist colors and Picasso's cubism, Mouly's art is described as pure and direct in its message, rooted in the School of Paris.
His work is part of permanent collections in over 20 museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in Paris and Japan, the Museum of Geneva, and the Museum of Modern Art in Helsinki.
This piece, published in 1959, is mounted in an original Mid-Century Frame and is in excellent condition.
