Likely early American (one key, but missing footjoint, so no keys) simple system flute.
This was found alongside a Whiteley (Utica NY) and is marked but the marking is so very faint I am unable to distinguish what it says. Appears very much like something that came out of "Fluteville" in New York in the early to mid 19th century and makers such as Firth Hall Pond, Peloubet, Riley, etc.
Boxwood with one ivory ring present (headjoint and right hand ivory rings are missing, as is the entire footjoint). One visible crack at the top of the headjoint, The head and left hand sections are seized together and I will let the new owner/restorer humidify and get them apart. There are no other cracks visible as I can see, which is pretty miraculous for a flute of its age. There is some ovaling of the boxwood as is very typical.
Dimensions are provided in pictures. Please view pictures closely as they serve as the detailed description.
Priced very fairly for what it is with footjoint fabrication in mind. Likely a very nice player when it was made and with a little work to bring back.
