Here is a system HP sold to businesses in 2004.  This month I wiped and tested the hard drive, replaced the CMOS battery, replaced the original CD ROM with a DVD burner, and then installed WIndows XP Pro with all necessary drivers.  All hardware is still working.  It is now ready to install your favorite applications, from CD, or from a USB flash drive.

HP used a 200W power supply in a minitower case that is less than 15 inches tall.  With the DVD-RW and one hard drive installed there are still four empty drives bays remaining: two hidden 3.5" hard drive bays plus one exposed 5.25" and one exposed 3.5" drive bay.

The heart of the system is a micro-ATX motherboard with Intel's 865GV chipset.  It supports Socket 478 Celeron or Pentium 4 CPUs (up to 3.2 GHz)  The included a 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor uses a 533 MHz FSB and 1MB of L2 cache.  There are four 184-pin sockets for DDR1 SDRAM, upgradeable to 4GB.  Currently, two DIMM sockets are empty and each of the others has a 256MB DIMM installed for 512GB total memory.

The motherboard includes connectors for two PS/2 ports, four USB 2.0 ports in back plus two in front, a parallel port, a 9-pin serial port, a VGA monitor port, and a Gigabit ethernet port.  Speaker and microphone jacks are in front and in back.

The original Seagate Barracuda ATA 40GB hard drive is still working well, with Windows XP and Service Pack 3 installed.
