French porcelain figures, mid–late 19th century, modelled as a gallant and his lady in 18th-century costume, conceived as a masquerade courtship scene and executed in the Parisian revival style associated with Vion & Baury. A finely modelled pair of glazed polychrome porcelain figures, designed as a balanced conversational composition. Unmarked examples of Paris porcelain are well documented for the period, particularly among smaller ateliers working within the broader revival tradition. Lady: excellent antique condition. Examined under UV light; no cracks, no restoration. Polychrome enamels and gilding are well preserved.
Gentleman: the index finger of the right hand is chipped. Minor losses to the gilding. Firing cracks to the base of the column against which the figure rests. Otherwise in excellent antique condition. Examined under UV light; no cracks or restoration detected.
