Charles Ranc
A nice 1930s French art deco lamp by Charles Ranc. A copper plated pressed brass base holds an opalescent shade in thick milky blue molded-pressed semi crystal. It shows beautiful tones of blue or warm amber depending whether light shines on or through it.
Ranc sold small table lamps with these bases for about a decade. Using numerous different models shades for it. See the catalog pictures of the 1937 Ranc product catalog. The shade on this lamp is unsigned. It was produced for Ranc by the EZAN glass manufactory of Etablissement Jean Gauthier. This shade only exists unsigned. The matching 35 cm large bowl in this design is signed Ranc freres France. See my other listings for a Ranc ceiling fixture with such bowl.
The lamp is 21,5 cm high. And the base is 11,9 cm in diameter. It is in very good condition. No chips or cracks. The copper plating shows it's over 80 years old. The lamp is rewired with twisted cloth covered cord. I placed a E14 socket so we can use our normal light bulbs for it. For the US Canada or Japan I will rewire the lamp with an American candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug.
