I'm helping my husband sell some of his mother's collections. She collected many different things including "The Calista Collection" of which she had five. I haven't been able to find out much about this collection, or the artist, Donna Waldman. According to the Certificate of Authenticity that comes with her, these Doll like 1/2 statues are based on her original sculpture. Manufactured by Calista Collections, Inc., this one, as well as the other 4 are numbered 49/250. This one titled "Colleen" was produced in Fall of 1988 at the same time as all the others. It is signed by the artist Donna Waldman and the other signature is hard to make out but looks like M Goiran. The booklet that comes with each art piece explains some, but it's all I have to go on. I'm not sure of the materials used of the head and neck and hands. It looks like porcelain bisque, but without something more to go on, I can't say for sure. The way it is put together from waist up, reminds me of Antique porcelain bisque dolls. The body and arms are soft, with what appears to be some sort of poly-fill. The hands are the same material as the head. I'm not taking the wigs off, but there doesn't appear to be any damage to the head, neck, or hands. "Colleen" Is wearing what feels like cotton, navy blue with white poke a dots and dashes throughout, with a white bib collar with ribbon and button trimmings. The collar has a couple of slight stains, hard to see and the dress seems slightly faded on arms on stomach area, if she had a stomach. She has a straw hat, and black hair is in pigtails tied with ribbon. The wooden stand is connected to the waist area of the piece and is at least 15 inches in height making the entire piece 24 inches tall. Also, the wooden base makes the piece quite heavy. The piece weighs 3 pounds 9 ounces and that is without packing. So, I anticipate that the shipping cost will be high. She is holding a wreath made of real dried flowers and straw, some of which fall off when moved.I call these pieces Folk Art, because of the way they're dressed. It reminds me of prairie life in the middle of the 19th century. If anyone knows anything about these sculpture/dolls or the artist, please message me with this information. I didn't know how to categorize these, so some will be in art and some will be in dolls. Thank you for looking and your help. B2
