This is a Japanese Natural Finishing Whetstone (J-Nat) known as Asagi (Pale Yellow-Green/Gray type), traditionally sourced from the Shouhonyama area of Umegahata, Kyoto. Shouhonyama stones are highly prized for their fine, stable grit and smooth feel, which produce a beautiful, uniform finish on blades. It is ideal for the final honing of kitchen knives, planes (Kanna), and chisels (Nomi). This stone has been pre-lapped (plane adjusted) and is ready for immediate use.
