1988 VW Scirocco Scala

Mileage 129839, MOT till 26/6/26, 3 former keepers the last one owned the car for 33 years till I purchased it August 2022. They bought the car in 1989 having part exed a Golf Match bill of sale included the mileage then was 5216 they also bought an extended warranty paperwork and members card for this also included.

12 service stamps with cambelt recorded as being changed twice once in 2001 and again in 2023.

My Scirocco is only for sale due to lacking space to keep it and having too many projects and a Golf GTi on the way to replace it. I no longer have the time to carry on restoring this car to the standard I’d be happy with. Main issues are cosmetic having had a poor respray at some point in the past and rust areas mainly drivers door and bottom of windscreen, cracking body filler on drivers rear quarter all pictured . Stone ships were even just sprayed over. stain on the bonnet from from some liquid of some sort. Also 3rd gear syncro is on its way out grinds when selecting 3rd but not too bad if your slow with it, a good what I was told low mileage gearbox from a MK2 Golf GTi is included with a new clutch and new drive shafts to fit all in the boot. O/S inn drive shaft joint has started to make a rotational squeak but still drives well.

Good points and new parts fitted are as follows.

Under dash tray needs refitting which is in the boot.

Drivers seat is tatty and has worn bolsters had the tilt lever is broken.

Centre console is cracked where the stereo fits.

Carb could do with being set up properly.

Drivers carpet is damp think I’ve sorted the leak which I believe was from the blower motor seal.

Drivers window has recently started to get sticky towards the final close.

Choke control is fiddly.

Wing mirror base plastics broken due to becoming brittle.

People say I’m overly critical of my Rocco but I think it’s because I want it to be better I’m chasing my unicorn of my first Scirocco which was GTX and don’t think I’ll ever get one as good as that one was back in 1999. I just don’t have the time and money to get it to the standard I want.

Collection only, I can pick up buyers from local train and bus stations.

Viewing recommended which will be evenings and weekends.

Car is located in Middlesbrough.
