I use Discogs guidelines for cd grading - overall grading applies to the DISC ONLY - see description below for specific component grades (booklet and case - more often than not, the case and/or booklet are not the same condition as the disc - hence the deets in the description below) - if you want to get a good rundown on disc grading criteria, visit discogs - theirs is pretty much industry-wide accepted scale

ebay has a field for "inlay condition" - for my purposes, I apply that to mean BOOKLET condition - the only way to get an accurate "inlay condition" would be to take apart the case (which, in many cases, damages the case tray and possibly the insert - I've broken loads of inner trays - they're fragile) - I figure most buyers are interested more in the booklet condition - however, if there is some kind of obvious damage to the actual inlay, I'll try to note that too

I use Discogs grading criteria for my cds - I generally do NOT sell anything less than VG+ - while they do not have an EX grade, you should expect something between NM and VG+ - and, yes, ex WILL show very light blemishes:

Mint:  Perfect. No scuffs/scratches, unplayed - possibly still sealed

NM:  Near perfect. No obvious signs of use, it may have been played - but it has been handled very carefully

VG+:  A few minor scuffs/scratches. This has been played, but handled with good care - and certainly not abused
