A stunning example of Sony’s golden-era engineering. This Sony DHC-ZX50MD is a high-power shelf system featuring a 5-CD Changer, MiniDisc (MDLP) Recorder, and Dual Cassette Decks. Finished in a premium silver and wood-grain aesthetic, it remains one of the most visually impressive systems Sony ever produced.
Condition Report
• Cosmetic: Excellent / Very Good. As seen in the photos, the unit has been extremely well-cared for. The display is bright with no dead pixels. The speaker cabinets and "QuickEdge" H.O.P. woofer cones are in fantastic condition.
• Mechanical (For Repair): Typical of high-end vintage belt-driven systems, this unit requires a "belt refresh" to be fully functional.
• CD Section: Displays "CD Mech Error" (likely a perished loading belt).
• MD Section: Displays "TOC Reading" (laser may need cleaning or rail lubrication).
• Tape Section: Operational
• Audio: The amplifier section is fully functional.

Before being put into storage approximately 3 years ago this was fully operational. The mini disc system had not been utilised during its lifetime - I imagine some dust may need to be removed from the disc bay. The CDs last played are still in the CD carousel system.
