Vintage Handcrafted Japanese Soroban Abacus
Japan, Circa 1851–1930
A vintage Japanese soroban featuring fine woodworking with nice older dovetails and traditional joinery on the frame. It has the pre-1930 1/5 (6 rows total) construction style with 17 total columns. Each column is identified with carved kanji markers designed to assist with specific calculations. The beads are hand-carved and mounted on steel dowels. A beautiful object of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
