Estate find with no history:  Bulova 2181 man's wristwatch, gold plated, running . . .  But . . .

The second hand sweeps correctly and counts the secones accurately.  The hour and minute hands sometimes move on their own, but more often not.  They turn just fine when you twist the stem.  I put in a brand new battery, and the classic Accutron hum is approximately 360 Hz.  My piano is in tune, and the F# above middle C registers 370 Hz and is the closest sound to what my ear hears from this watch.

I examined the gold-plated case with a 10X loupe, which shows fine scratches throughout, but no plating loss that I could see, not even on the high points.  The crystal is really scratched up, and I can catch my fingernail in several places.  The face looks really good, and I can see just a bit of toning to the right of the box that exhibits the date.

The Speidel Twistoflex band is in very nice condition and does not need to be replaced.  Its internal circumference is approximately 7.25" and will stretch to fit a very large wrist.

Because I am not a jeweler and have no watch skills, this is about all I can tell you.

Thanks!  -Eddie
