About the plant
The chaste tree (Vitex agnus-castus), also known as monk’s pepper or wild pepper, is a shrub from the verbena family (Verbenaceae). It naturally grows in the Mediterranean region, the Balkans, Asia Minor, and the Middle East.
The plant reaches up to 5 meters in height. It has lanceolate leaves, violet flowers, and small, round, dark brown fruits resembling peppercorns.
