Historical Background
The Nieuport 17 C.1 was one of the most iconic fighter aircraft of World War I. Designed by Gustave Delage, it first flew in January 1916 and quickly earned a reputation for its agility, impressive climb rate, and advanced sesquiplane design. With a top speed of around 170 mph, it became a favourite among Allied pilots.

Aircraft “A213” is closely associated with Captain Albert Ball (14 August 1896 – 7 May 1917), one of Britain’s most celebrated WW1 fighter aces. At the time of his death, Ball had achieved 44 confirmed aerial victories, making him the United Kingdom’s leading flying ace of the period.

He flew with distinction in No. 56 Squadron, and after being reported missing in action on 7 May 1917, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his extraordinary bravery and skill. Ball’s preferred armament included a Lewis gun on a Foster mounting above the upper wing — a signature feature of the Nieuport 17.

Variants of this aircraft included the Nieuport 17bis and Nieuport 21, both continuing the design evolution of this influential fighter.

Please note due to the new tariffs replacing the “de minimis,” we have equated the customs fee into your postage price. Should you place multiple orders, we may need to calculate the total cost; this may require a brief conversation, though this will be rare. There will also be a delay in delivery while parcels navigate the new tariff system. Unfortunately this is beyond our control.
