Honor
starts again
The previous
model already impressed Huawei's long-established fan base. With the Flagship
2025, the Chinese manufacturer is once again taking off and once again using
only the finest components: a triple camera including a 200 MP sensor, the new
Snapdragon processor, the fastest memory and RAM, and a large battery with the
usual fast charging speed are sure to impress.
True to
the design
In terms of
design, the Honor Magic 8 Pro remains faithful to its predecessors. In fact, it
is the front that stands out from the crowd of smartphones on the market. A
double notch interrupts the otherwise full-screen display on the front, which
has pleasingly thin bezels. Measuring just 161.15 x 75.00 x 8.32 mm and
weighing 219 g, the smartphone fits very comfortably in the hand. The build
quality of the device is exceptional. Not only is it certified to IP68 and
IP69, as is usual for flagship models, but also to IP69K. The display itself is
also particularly robust thanks to specially developed Gaint Rhino Glass.
Qualcomm's
flagship CPU
This year's
offshoot of the flagship also promises maximum performance. Nothing less than
Qualcomm's flagship model awaits demanding tasks inside the Honor Magic 8 Pro.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 clocks at up to 4.6 GHz and is accompanied by an
Adreno 840 GPU that can effortlessly handle the latest mobile games. The Octa
Core SoC impresses not only with its performance, but also with its energy
efficiency.
It doesn't
get any brighter than this
The Honor
Magic 8 Pro also offers superlatives in terms of its built-in panel. It
measures 6.71 inches and uses OLED technology, which promises particularly
lifelike colour reproduction and perfect black levels. However, its performance
is impressive: it achieves up to 4000 nits across the entire surface and up to
6000 nits peak brightness. This makes the display one of the brightest on the
market. At the same time, the brightness can be reduced to 1 nit – ideal for
use at night. Thanks to LTPO technology, the refresh rate can be dynamically
adjusted between 1 and 120 Hz. Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid are supported.
Powerful
camera setup
There's no
question about it: the Honor Magic 8 Pro offers one of the best camera setups
ever. The device stands out in particular on the front with its 50-megapixel
sensor with f/2.0 aperture. This is supported by a 3D depth sensor, which
ensures attractive bokeh effects and allows the smartphone to be unlocked
securely. There are three sensors on the back. The 50-megapixel wide-angle
sensor with f/1.6 aperture promises outstanding results, especially in
unfavorable lighting conditions. If the shooting angle needs to be extended to
up to 122 degrees, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.0 aperture
is available, which can also take macro shots from a distance of only 2.5 cm.
The highlight, however, is the 200-megapixel telephoto lens with an f/2.6
aperture and 3.7x optical zoom.
Fastest
charging technology
Another major
strength of Honor is its charging technology. Here, the Honor Magic 8 Pro
outperforms other current flagships such as the Oppo Find X9 Pro and the Vivo
X300 Pro. The internal battery can be charged via USB C cable at up to 120 W.
Wireless charging is also possible at a record-breaking speed of up to 80 W.
The size of the built-in battery is also impressive. It has an impressive
capacity of 7100 mAh, which is significantly larger than its predecessor.
Physical
buttons and AI
A new feature
of the series is the underlying AI. This significantly improves the results of
the already powerful camera and is also available for everyday use at any time.
It can be controlled, for example, via the physical button on the side of the
housing. Apart from these special features, the flagship is familiar with the
usual standards: Bluetooth 6.0, WiFi 7, Dual 5G, NFC, stereo speakers, and an
in-display fingerprint sensor are all included.
