Antique Italian Sorrento Hand Fan c1900 with Mirror & Swallow Painted Handle.

A charming antique Italian hand-screen fan dating to around 1890–1910, made in Sorrento and bearing the printed name “Ricardo di Sorrento” on the fabric leaf. These decorative fans were sold as quality souvenir pieces during the Grand Tour and early tourism period, combining light practicality with artistic detail.

The fan has a turned fruitwood handle with a beautifully hand-painted swallow motif and an oval inset mirror, both classic features of Sorrento souvenir craftsmanship from the late 19th and early 20th century. The fabric leaf is printed with an ornate scrolling Art Nouveau pattern and finished with a lace trim.

Shows age-related wear to the fabric, printed decoration and lace edging, with some marks and discolouration as expected for a 120-year-old piece. The wooden handle is in good order with its painted details present, and the small mirror remains intact. A lovely display piece with real period charm.
