Rare Victorian rowing trophy won at the Barnes & Mortlake Regatta held in 1880 making the trophy 145 years old.

The trophy is in the form of a large Doulton Lambeth stoneware jug and matching beaker both signed by Mary Ann Thompson. Both the jug & the beaker having silver plated fittings with the jug having a plated rim & cover with thumb piece. The beaker has a silver plated rim. The silver plated fittings have been gilded.

The beautiful presentation engraving to the cover of the jug reads:

"Barnes & Mortlake AMATEUR REGATTA 1880. Eight Oars. WON BY (blank)"

Doulton Lambeth Jug: Weight: 1.411 kg. Height: 270 mm. Diameter of Rim: 90 mm. Diameter of Base: 130 mm. Base Stamped "DOULTON LAMBETH" & Monogram "MT" of Mary Ann Thompson.

Doulton Lambeth Beaker: Weight: 277.7 gm. Height: 140 mm. Diameter of Rim: 85 mm. Diameter of Base: 55 mm. Base Stamped "DOULTON LAMBETH" & Monogram "MT" of Mary Ann Thompson.

Summary: As can be seen from the photos this is a rare & unusual rowing trophy in the form of a Victorian Doulton Lambeth jug & matching beaker. Doulton Lambeth items of this era are highly collectable in their own right but the fact that this is also a regatta trophy only adds to the appeal. Good luck!
