LOVELY little lidded Persian trinket or pill box.  This round metal box is made from brass and looks like it may have been silver-plated at one point.  Much of the silver has worn away, however.  The interior is still very shiny / pretty.  The front of the lid has a circular mother of pearl medallion that has been hand-painted with four colorful birds in the trees, leaves, and flowers.  The colors are beautiful teal, coral, blue, and black.  There are some stress fractures in the mother of pearl (if you zoom in you can see them).  Around the rim of the lid there are some dents that have resulted in crimping of the metal.  See the photos for what I mean -- the dents do not interfere with the box closing.
