Up for sale is my beautiful 1963 Omega Seamaster 165.014.
This is a rare transitional piece with the last of the dagger dials and straight hands. The watch was purchased last year on eBay and the previous owner confirmed that was serviced as part of the purchase. The watch head is all original apart from the bezel insert which has been redone by a professional watch maker. It is period correct in colour and age and has been done to a high standard. If you know these watches well you will know that original inserts are very rare as they often crumbled / cracked.
The watch is keeping good time overall and has expected age related marks for being 62 years old. Remember this watch was brand new when Mick Jagger was only 19. During 1963 the Rolling Stones had started recording their debut album which released in April 1964. George Best would have made his debut for Manchester United in 1963 at only 17 years old so to say this watch has seen some history is an understatement.
The lower price reflects the fact that the steel bracelet is an aftermarket uncle seiko bracelet but does look nice, finishing the watch off beautifully. A period correct seamaster bracelet would set you back anywhere between £1200 - £2500.
EBay authenticity card will be present as part of sale with proof of original purchase. Any questions please just reach out as I am not in a rush to sell but have seen another watch I would like!
