Elsebet Schütze (1923–2004) was a Danish modernist painter and a key figure in the post-war European avant-garde. Born into the noble Castenschiold family in Klampenborg, Denmark, she studied under Emil Rannow and later at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1946—the same year she married German sculptor Rolf Schütze. Schütze became known for her abstract landscapes featuring geometric forms—circles, diagonals, and arcs—set against luminous white or pastel backgrounds. She exhibited widely in Denmark and Germany, establishing a unique voice within mid-20th-century abstraction.
