Proceedings of the Scientific Meetings of the Zoological Society of London for the year 1879. Bound in contemporary half-leather and gilt-lettered spine panel. This substantial annual volume includes numerous scientific papers from the period, with a wide range of zoological subjects covered.

The book contains multiple plates, including engraved and coloured illustrations of mammals, birds, crustacea, fish and spiders. Several plates show offsetting or tide marks, and some foxing is present throughout, particularly on the preliminaries. At some point, the book has suffered some water damage as shown. Binding remains sound with expected wear to the leather and boards.

Printed for the Society and sold at their rooms in Hanover Square, London, by Longmans, Green, Reader and Dyer.

A complete example of a genuine 19th-century zoological reference work, notable for its detailed scientific plates and period natural history research.
