Folding a Collapsible Top Hat Never store a satin collapsible top hat in its folded collapsed position. This will weaken the springs and wrinkle the fabric. When the fabris is wrinkled, let the top hat in open position, the fabric stretchs in short time. Preferably, store the hat in its open position, and stand it on the crown. When collapsing the satin top hat, hold the top of the hat against your chest, grasp the side brim and press evenly. To open, hold your top hat upside down and by the front brim, tap the edge of the back brim smartly against the palm of your other hand, allowing the top to expand.
