Vintage, used condition, Chialu figure from the 1950’s!

Amazing and rare dragon figure / figurine / display that is great for any fan or collector!

Colors are still bright and bold and this is truly an exceptional figure / toy.

This model is called the Chialu 3 Horned Dragon that was part of the Prehistoric Dinosaur set.

This was made in Italy in the 1950’s… the attention to detail is second to none!

Made of composite (a wood like mixture /substance). The bone meal, wood plaster /composite was popular in Europe after the war. This still feels “strong” and sturdy and definitely has some weight to it.

Chialu of Italy made a series of painted figures modeled after Rudolph Zallinger's "Age of Reptiles" mural that appeared in Life magazine in the early 1950s. There were roughly 20 different species produced - dinosaurs, wolf, dragons and a bear.

Figures were hand painted producing variations in color. Each figure is truly one of a kind.

The colors of the dragon are various shades of green (light moss green, forrest green etc), orange, black, brown, gray, tan and white. The dragon has fiery red and yellow eyes!

Production was limited and aimed at the high end museum and luxury markets. Not many of these are around and only a few pop up every now and then.

This is obviously used and has some visible “wear and tear”. There is some fading, small chips / nicks, abrasions etc. from age and display. Please see pictures for reference. These are cosmetic flaws from age and display and I think this gives it even more character.

Please be advised that there is a flaw on the dragon - one of his feet has been chipped. Please see pictures for reference. I personally think this gives it more character. This can still be used and displayed and given the nature of these figures, it’s somewhat common.
