Before digital cameras and built-in camera meters, photographers used this handheld tool to measure light and calculate:
• shutter speed
• f-stop (aperture)
• and sometimes ISO/film speed settings
It allowed them to get a properly exposed photograph.
The needle barely moves when held under light.
