Those who follow my listings know that I don't often use the word, "Rare" to describe a listing. In this case, however, it seems merited in that there is no record of the game having been previously sold. It does not appear in any of the standard publications about games. And, while the Frank T. Riley company was known for book publishing, there is no record of their manufacturing games. In fact, this may have been a sample of sorts in that the rules booklet indicates that the game could be purchased in lots of 100, using "any arrangement of candidates desired."
The game is complete. It consists of 50 cards, 6 sets of 8 cards each, each representing a delegation, plus a "Bunc" card and a "Gun" card, as follows:
- 175 DICKEY for Mayor
- 200 DAVIS for Mayor
- 225 NEFF for Mayor
- 250 KEMP for Mayor
- 275 YATES for Mayor
- 300 SHELLEY for Mayor
- BUNC
- GUN
"It is the object of the game to trade one's cards until the holder has a full delegation (which is eight of a kind). . . . The politician securing 1,500 votes first gets the nomination and wins the game."
The cards measure 2-1/4 inches by 3-1/2 inches. The card backs feature an Art Nouveau design and the word "POLITICS." Each page of the four-page instruction booklet measures 3-1/2 inches by 5-3/4 inches.
CONDITION: The game is complete with 50 cads, instruction booklet and original box. All of the cards except one are in very good gently used condition; one card (1 of the Yates cards) is lightly soiled. The booklet is age-toned; there are three long tears along the fold lines. The box cover is rubbed and soiled. The box top is lacking three aprons. The box bottom is intact with one end apron inexpertly re-glued. PLEASE MOUSE OVER THE PHOTOGRAPHS FOR CONDITION DETAILS.
