Captured during Van Halen’s first-ever Japan tour (June 1978), promoting their groundbreaking debut album. Believed to have been shot in Tokyo by a Japanese photographer, this image shows the band at their explosive early peak — young, raw, and unstoppable.
Eddie Van Halen appears with a white Les Paul–style guitar — a rarity noted by fans and photographed only during select Japan dates and a few early U.S. shows. This makes the image both visually striking and historically valuable for VH collectors.
Cheap Trick’s first Japan tour (April 1978) ignited their massive overseas success. Soon after, they released At Budokan, the live album that propelled them to international fame.
