Scarce true 1st edition of this late 1800s book in decorative blue cloth. c1880, this book was printed while Ward Lock only had offices in London and before they expanded to Melbourne, Australia (as well as New York), dating this earlier than the red cloth version. An earlier book called OUR Favourite Fairy Tales was published by the same author, with illustrations by the same author. The cloth boards of this 1st edition have some rubbing, wear and bumps to edges. The binding is quite firm, spine a little shaken, no loose leaves, rear hinge separating, pages are in very good condition, all plates present. Inscription to front end paper.
