In a word, gorgeous! This demitasse cup and saucer are hand painted in the Art Nouveau style. The pale, sophisticated pink is ombre, and lightest on the bottom and then goes to a darker pink on top and then transitions to a light sage green. There is heavy gold floral decoration with several different types of flowers accented with raised white dots. The gold design elements are only of the front half of the cup. The edges and handle are also brushed with gold. The top rim of the cup and the saucer edge are lightly scalloped but in a more organic movement, typical of the Art Nouveau period. The decoration on the saucer echoes that of the cup but is more simple in design. The hand painted designs on this piece are exquisite! Both the saucer and the cup are marked with Limoges marks that indicate that AKCD was the manufacturer of the items and they were decorated by the Klingenberg and Dwenger factory between 1891 and 1911. The manufacturer's marks indicate that Coiffe, known for exquisite quality and ornately fashioned pieces, made the plain white pottery.
CONDITION: The condition is excellent and like new.
DIMENSIONS: The cup's height is 3", its diameter is 2 1/2", and its diameter, including the handle, is 3 1/2". The diameter of the saucer is approximately 4 1/2". The cup's capacity is 4 ounces.
