Talking Head, Bowie, Eno, U2, Tom Waits, the list goes on…

Up for sale is a lot of Three (3) historic Sony mics. They were tested and serviced in the last few weeks by David Brown of Microphone Repair in Los Angeles, one of the most respected vintage mic repairman in the US (see document photos.)

C37a SN 4522: In very good shape for its age, including the power box. Minor dents in the windscreen (typical for these mics at this age.) Capacitor replaced by Brown, Sept. 2025. Sounds amazing. Has been a reliable mic in our recording studio.

C37a SN 4279: Sounds as amazing, There is a crack in the front casing of the mic, which per Brown was not repairable, but does not seem to affect the performance in any way. Has been a reliable mic in our recording studio.

C37p (serial number n/a) In amazing condition for its age, looks almost new. Repair work on the EQ ring switch and shielding was done by brown, and it’s tested, clean, and working great . Has a cleaner sound than the C37a’s.

Power Box SN 4841: Very clean for its age, new AC cable installed by Brown. Hi-cut light replaced by Brown.

Power Box SN 4857: Hi-cut light & cover replaced by Brown

Please note, ALL Sony mics in this series are known to be lower-output mics, this is how they were designed. They are fairly clean for vintage mics with higher gain.
