This is an exact reproduction of a Hoosier Cabinet Side Bracket. The side brackets are used to keep the hutch of the cabinet separated from the base so the work top can slide in and out.  Slide clearance for this bracket is 3/4 inch, and this is how much the work top overhangs each side of the cabinet.
