Antique, 19th century, Apothecary / Pharmacy Porcelain Drawer Pull for G. Catechu (extract from the Khair tree, found is Asia).  It measures 3 1/8" long X 2" tall with a depth of 1" in depth and 2 3/4" from the center hole to the center hole. Excellent condition with the exception of one small chip on the back, which does not show on the back of the pull when displayed or screwed into a drawer.

G. Catechu refers to the extract or wood of the Khair tree, scientifically known as Acacia catechu (or Senegalia catechu), which is used as a food additive, dye, and herbal remedy for gingivitis, wounds, and skin conditions. The extract provides the characteristic red-brown color in foods like betel quid (paan) and is also valued for its astringent and tannin properties
