A very rare 1925-1935 French art deco lamp by Muller frères. depicting peacocks. Made in nickel plated solid bronze and nickeled wrought iron. The shades depicting a fox and a pheasant are done in thick clear frosted molded-pressed glass. Both shade and panel are unsigned. The lamp is represented in on eof the old Muller freres product catalogs in a version with a stork instead of a pheasant. A catalog of the Nancy France based shop Germain et Lambolez shows a version with pheasant.
The lamp is 31 cm high. 17,6 cm wide and 10,6 cm deep. It is almost impossible to find one in this good condition. Over the past 25 years I saw the base with missing shade several times. And I saw it twice with a completely broken shade. The lamp on offer is in very good condition. The nickel plating on the bronze part of the base shows wear and the gold colour of the bronze shines through. Two tiny non disturbing chips can be seen on the shade. The lamp is rewired with nice cloth covered twisted cord. It holds a European E14 socket. For the US Canada and Japan I will place an American size candelabra base socket and US 2-prong plug.
