How to Join a Conveyor Belt with a Rigid Connection Pin
Step 1: Precision Alignment
Place the belt ends together so the lacing teeth intermesh. Because the pin is rigid, the loops must be perfectly concentric. Even a fraction of a millimeter of misalignment will stop a rigid pin from passing through.
Step 2: Set the GrabUnity Tool
Clamp the Grab Unity tool over the splice. The tool acts as a rigid guide rail.
• Note: Ensure the tool is clamped tight enough that the belt cannot "buckle" upward, which would cause the rigid pin to bind against the top or bottom of the lacing loops.
Step 3: Driving the Connection Pin
1. Insert the rigid connection pin into the GrabUnity guide hole.
2. Since the pin doesn't bend, you must ensure you have enough clearance on the side of the conveyor to insert the full length of the pin in a straight line.
3. Use pliers to grip the pin near the entry point and push it in short, controlled increments.
Step 4: Clearing Obstructions
If the rigid pin hits a "dead end":
• Do not force it with a hammer, as this may bend the pin or damage the Grab Unity tool.
• Instead, slightly adjust the tension on the GrabUnity handle to re-align the "tunnel" created by the interlocking teeth.
• Once aligned, the rigid pin should slide through with firm pressure.
Step 5: Release and Trim
1. Release the GrabUnity tool and slide it off.
