The product is a vintage Duraglas jar or bottle with a clear color, manufactured before 1930. It belongs to the apothecary and pharmaceutical category and was likely used for storing poison or other chemicals. The item is made of Bakelite, a popular early 20th-century plastic, and bears the Mallinckrodt and Hans-Burkhart labels, adding to its historical significance. Perfect for collectors interested in antique scientific and medical artifacts.
This piece specifically came from a gentleman’s personal collection by the name of John Burkhart. He owned Burkhart Pharmacy in South Bend, In. from 1959-1969 with his wife. In 1969 they moved further south and the former Hans-Bergman Pharmacy became Hans-Burkhart Pharmacy. They operated that business until 1992. They were an anchor of the south side for 33 years serving the community and creating a family atmosphere for patrons and relatives alike. After closing their doors in March of 1992, John continued to serve as a pharmacist at Osco and K-mart until retiring in 2007 at the age of 83.
