Print Info:
Zebras inhabit most of Africa
below the Sahara. Burchell’s zebra (Equus burchelli), the most abundant type,
grazes in herds throughout the grassy plains. Zebras display great fondness
within their cohesive groups, standing shoulder to shoulder, nestling with
their heads and necks, and grooming each other with their teeth. They watch out
for each other, ever alert for predators. Through the zebra’s striped provide
no camouflage, they may serve to confuse predators, making it difficult to
isolate a single target as the herd’s black and white bands interplay with each
other.
Zebras enjoy running and at full gallop can achieve 35 mph. Smaller than horses, they stand 50” to 55” and weight 500-700 pounds. Unlike horses, zebras have shown themselves to be difficult to domesticate. Instead, they continue to run free with their families, to whom they devote “Undivided Attention.”
