Attention Plate Number and/or Red Cross Specialists!!
The bi-color Scott #702 2c Red Cross 50th Anniversary issue of 1931 is one of the most collectable plate blocks ever issued because of the literally hundreds of plate number combinations that exist. There were 24 frame (black) plate numbers and 20 Red Cross (red) plate numbers for as many as 480 potential combinations. The sheets were printed with plate numbers at the top and bottom of each sheet and depending on whether the sheet was on the left side of the press sheet or the right side, the plate numbers could be black/red or red/black. Do the math and over 1900 different number and position combinations of plate blocks are possible.
The title and image above gives you the plate numbers, top or bottom position, the block's position as a left side (black/red) or right side (red/black), and overall centering. No stock images are used--the block in the image is the one you will receive. All are never hinged. Minor perf seps and creases in the selvage may be present. Gum bends and gum skips are common in plate blocks of the era. Any other issues will be visible on the image or mentioned in the description.
I have several hundred of these combinations as plate blocks of 4. I have set up a separate store category (702 Red Cross) to make it easier to search. All are the same price!
To keep things simple with orders for multiple plate numbers combinations, I am offering these with free domestic shipping! That said, if you are interested in purchasing multiple plate blocks, it would work best to use your shopping cart and order everything you want in a single transaction.
