RARE JEWISH BIRTH CERTIFICATE – CHISINAU (KISHINEV), BESSARABIA, 1926 – SIGNED BY CHIEF RABBI YEHUDA LEIB TSIRELSON

  This is official Jewish birth certificate issued in Chișinău (Kishinev), Bessarabia, dated January 5, 1921. The certificate records the 1907 birth of Etlea daughter of Shlomo Zalman Turkenitzky and Sheindel, noted Jewish family from the region. This document is hand signed by Chief Rabbi Yehuda Leib Tsirelson (1859–1941) – the last Chief Rabbi of Bessarabia, a leading halachic authority, Zionist leader, and the only Rabbi to serve as Senator in the Romanian Parliament. He was tragically murdered by the Nazis in 1941. The certificate bears the official Romanian state emblem (“Ministerul de Interne”) together with the seal of the Chișinău Rabbinate and revenue stamps of Romania. Back side includes the civil certificate by the city hall of Kishinev. Good condition, aging stains. Size approx 20x17cm.
