Rahwana is a central antagonist in the Indonesian wayang kulit tradition, particularly in performances of the Ramayana epic. He is depicted as the formidable king of Alengka, characterized by his coarse and greedy nature, symbolized by his blue face, forward-leaning posture, wide-open eyes, and sneering mouth. These physical traits underscore his role as a raksasa (giant) and his embodiment of evil forces. In the narrative, Rahwana's abduction of Dewi Sinta (Sita) sets off a series of events leading to a great battle with Rama and his allies. Despite his villainous actions, Rahwana is portrayed with a certain depth, reflecting the complexity of his character. His eventual defeat serves as a pivotal moment in the story, illustrating the triumph of good over evil.
