Striking WWII patriotic cover mailed April 6, 1942 from Minneapolis, Minnesota, bearing the machine slogan “BUY DEFENSE SAVINGS BONDS AND STAMPS.” The cachet is a bold, hand-made, multi-color design reading “DO AS I DO… BUY U.S. WAR BONDS AND STAMPS” with a small pasted cartoon at upper left—an eye-catching, likely one-off piece we have not found duplicated. Franked with 2¢ American Red Cross (Scott 702) and 2¢ Sesquicentennial Liberty Bell (Scott 627) for a 4¢ total, slightly overpaying the 3¢ first-class rate then in effect—nice philatelic flavor.

Condition: clean face with good color and strike; light general handling/toning consistent with age. Stamps are tied by the cancel. Please view all photos to judge for yourself. We offer combined shipping on covers.

A distinctive, conversation-starting WWII patriotic that stands out in a binder or exhibit.
