LEON RICHARD MULLER FRERES
A beautiful French 1930 bronze art deco lamp by Léon Richard. This monsieur Richard had a company in Paris making electrical lamps in art deco style. Most of the Richard models were in white metal (alloy of tin zinc and lead). Some luxurious ones like the lamp on offer were done in bronze.
The base holds a shade by Muller freres, the famous glass manufactory in Luneville near the city of Nancy. The lamp is represented in the 1926 Richard catalog with shades in fabric and alabaster and it was available is several different finishes as well.
Here offered with a moulded-pressed Muller shade. In old catalogs this model shade is referred to as ´tulipe aux rideaux´. It is always signed yet the signature is often hardly there or only small parts of it are. The Muller fres Luneville signature is located at the very top of the shade, very close the hole. After the glasses came out of the mold they were grinded flat in the factory and doing so very often the signature was partially or completely grinded off.
The lamp is in excellent condition. It is 37,5 cm high. I have cleaned the beautiful bronze base. And the lamp comes rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plug
and switch. For the US or Canada I will place a US
candelabra base socket and 2-prong plug.
