Using Tips
- Do wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Required PPE is safety glasses along with goggles or a face shield. Wear other PPE as needed, such as gloves, dust mask, apron, etc.
- Do check all wheels for cracks or damage before use.
- Do check machine speed against the maximum operating speed marked on the wheel.
- Do feed the wheel into the workpiece at a moderate, constant rate.
- Do mount portable cut-off wheels only on grinders with proper guards. Position the wheel guard so that it stands between the operator and the wheel. Replace damaged wheel guards.
- Do mount portable cut-off wheels with proper flanges.
- Do run the wheel in a protected area (such as under a bench) for one minute before cutting, securely clamp the workpiece at both ends before cutting, and maintain the cut-off wheel at 90 degrees to the workpiece at all times.
