Power over Ethernet technology consists in transferring power along with data over standard Ethernet topology. PoE devices are organized by class (1-4) depending on their power requirements (up to 15.4W) and receive power from a PoE network switch or PoE injector. RED-1 devices require either power supply method.
To accommodate international back-boxes and multiple mounting options, RED-1 is a surface mount device. An RJ45 + IDC connector (terminal block) provide data and power from the network. Dimensions of the device are 4.7" x 5.1" x 1.25" (120mm x 130mm x 31.5mm). The RED-1 surface mounts to most walls and has a wide variety of mounting holes that accommodate standard US and International back boxes.
The RED-1 is also available in a flush-mount version (RED-1F). Dimensions of the RED-1F are 6.22"H x 5.82"W x 0.5"D (158mm x 148mm x 12.7mm). The RED-1F mounts using either the included retrofit ring or a Raco® 254 backbox.
Networking requirements: RED-1 requires 10/100Mbps standard wired Ethernet connectivity to the same network subnet as the Ethernet port of the DSP unit(s). Devices ship by default with a static IP address of 192.168.1.201 and utilize port 12001/12003 to communicate. To prevent IP conflicts in static addressing, remember to modify the IP address if multiple RED-1 panels are connected to the same network. RED-1 devices do not support DHCP addressing.
