Vintage Japanese Ink Stone / Inkstone / Suzuri made of natural stone.  This has been hand carved into the traditional rectangular shape with a slanting well.  It is a little over 4 1/4 inches long and almost 2 inches wide.  The ink stone is in excellent vintage used condition with no major chips, no cracks, and no repairs.  It looks like it might be signed on the back side, but it isn't clear.

This ink stone was in the same box with a traditional bamboo calligraphy brush.  It is quite literally made of bamboo and natural hair.  It comes to a precise point!  It has a older plastic "cap" to the brush that has melted over time, but still fits and protects the point.  The bamboo handle measures about 3 3/4 inches long.  The brush hairs measure about an inch long.  

Also in the same box was this wooden handle.  It definitely used to be attached to some sort of tool, whether for use with calligraphy or something else, I don't know.  Since it was in the the box with the inkstone and the calligraphy brush, I'll include it in the auction.
