The prologue recounts the first boxing matches held in Mexico, beginning with the first ones in 1896, when it is mentioned that African-American boxers came. It goes on to mention modern-day Mexican boxers, who were the first in the country to practice this sport.

The work provides a complete guide to boxing, from the rules to the drills and movements necessary to excel in the sport.

At the end of the work, a section is dedicated to describing the Corbett vs. Sullivan match.
