The prototype station building which is still in existence, was just two rooms - a Waiting Room and a Ticket Office which also contained the electric train tablet machine. A lean-to was later added to house the Avery weighing machine (included in the kit).

Some twenty minutes by train from Barnstaple Town Station it was the first passing place on the line and remained largely unaltered throughout the life of the railway until closure in 1935. Chelfham is now back in the rightful ownership of the trading arm of L&B Trust.
