OUR VHS TESTING POLICY:
While we conduct a quick cleaning, we review the condition of the VHS cassette to ensure that there is nothing broken with the cassette, artwork, inserts, or case. If we note any issues but still determine the condition is desirable enough to be sold (cracked case but good cassette, for instance) we note any condition in the listing information through pictures or note in the description.
We then test the functionality of the cassette by checking the playback in a few spots to ensure that the cassette plays and that it shows the correct film footage.
OUR VHS CONTENT WAIVER POLICY:
WE DO NOT REVIEW 100% OF THE VHS CONTENT ON VHS ITEMS POSTED IN LISTINGS. VHS is a rewritable media and the original content can be recorded over or altered, even commercial titles by Disney, Warner Bros, etc. By purchasing VHS media you confirm that you are aware and release The Merchant of Nerdhaven and eBay from any liability from non-original content found on media. We recommend parents always be present during the first viewing of any family VHS cassettes.
While we have never personally seen inappropriate or illegal material recorded over commercial films, our customers and their families are our top priority and do what we can to help keep them safe which includes education on items purchased. Our VHS items come from vintage collection lots, estate and yard sales, personal collections, and many other sources with no history or provinance.
OUR VHS CONDITION WAIVER POLICY:
VHS MAGNETIC MEDIA DEGRADES OVER TIME AND VARIES WITH DIFFERENT PLAYBACK CONDITIONS. The VHS experience varies greatly from newer formats like DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Streaming Services. A VCR is required to play VHS cassettes, and the audio/video playback of the media recorded is effected by the cleanliness of the VCR heads that it is played on, the type and condition of the cables used to connect the player to the TV (RCA vs VGA vs S-Video), and how the cassette is stored.
KEEP AWAY FROM MAGNETS! Strong magnets can erase the recorded media from cassettes.
VHS cassettes are best viewed using a VCR to play on a vintage CRT, or tube television rather than a modern flat-panel.
VHS cassettes do not contain "HD" content and playback at 480i resolution.

Our What You See is What You Get Policy
As long-time eBay customers ourselves, we understand and empathize with the frustrations of trying to buy that perfect item for your collection only to find multiple listings featuring the same stock product images. You can't really tell the condition of the item they are selling and, even worse, you don't even know if they actually have the item in their possession or if they intend to purchase it only after they make the eBay sale. We have purchased items on eBay, paid immediately, and waited weeks for the item to arrive only to have the sale cancelled by the seller because "the item is out of stock" and they don't know when it will arrive.
Our policy is to photograph each and every previously owned and "New Old Stock" item after cleaning, reviewing, and testing them so you can see exactly what you are purchasing. We do not list items we do not have in our possession. If we have multiples of a previously owned item, we list one at a time and update the pictures and description after each sale. If you have questions about any item, we welcome you to reach out and we can answer them or provide additional pictures for your review. We are looking to become a staple foundation on ebay and the only way to do that is to put our customers first. Bid with confidence knowing that the game, book, CD, movie, or collectible you are purchasing is the exact item on our shelf.
PLEASE NOTE: If we list perfect condition brand new / sealed items with more than one quantity, we take a picture of only one item to expedite the process and allow for the possibility of quantity in the listings as all new items should look the same.
Shipping Policy - Process
We combine shipping. If you purchase multiple items through our store at the same time, we combine the purchases into the fewest parcels possible before mailing out. If the cost of the shipping is drastically less when you paid during checkout, we refund you the difference to the payment method used at time of purchase.
Shipping Policy - Insurance
We can add additional insurance for high value items. USPS ground provides up to $100 per package mailed using their Ground Advantage services. For items costing more than $100, we can help you purchase additional insurance. Please reach out before or immediately after purchase of an item if you would like to purchase additional insurance.
Shipping Policy - Materials
We reuse previously mailed shipping materials. Based in the US pacific northwest, (not too far from the redwood forest where Lucas filmed Endor in The Return of the Jedi) we were raised to appreciate nature and want to do our part to help restore our planet to a healthier balance. Whenever possible, we reuse previously shipped boxes, padded envelopes, and padding filler material if after review it meets our standards of quality. We reject and appropriately recycle all damaged, dirty, and unfit shipping materials and only mail out packages that we would want to receive ourselves.
