Always anneal wire to be drawn and reduced in diameter prior and periodically during the drawing operation.  

The tungsten carbide give consistent and smooth finish, they last as long as it is used properly. 

Never try to reduce use down to much at one time, gradual reduction is best and annealing is important. The proper use is important for the die to last and no get damaged.
